The Passions That Drive Your Journey
As I read through, The Passions That Drive Your Journey, I felt my head knotting up and down with agreement through all nine areas. At the end of this school year, my principal changed a veteran teacher's assignment and to say the least she was not a happy camper. Although, I am not sure if she had been in a long time. You could tell by her demeanor, relationship with the students, and ongoing efforts to stay within her "box" that she needed a change. So this school year through peer coaching, share sessions, and new team members, the VT was a whole new person. She seemed full of energy that poured out of her and into her students.

The simplest of changes make all the difference in the world! We had a similar situation happen at our school this past year and major changes were made. By the end of the year, the veteran teachers that were moved really enjoyed the changes.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit overwhelmed reading the nine areas thinking - How do you prioritize all these important issues, so you don't neglect anyone or thing? That was a great story to hear about the VT at your school. We have a few at my school that could use a new assignment! I guess they exist on every campus! My administration is not so quick to reassign teachers unless they request such.
ReplyDeleteWe have several VT that could really benefit from even a minor change. One at our campus was in a rut and was extremely vocal (negative) about a new room assignment, but just a change of scenery was a real mood changer for this VT.
